A. Certification is granted by Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the world's largest non-profit association organized for professional photographers. Certified photographers must stay current with the latest industry techniques, technology and trends, and attend educational programs and seminars to recertify every three years. Clients in every industry seek out credentialed professionals, as the public recognizes certification as a sign that one is an authority in the field. A CPP designation offers potential clients an assurance, not just of quality, but of technical skill and artistic expertise.
A. PPA confers the Master of Photography on members that complete specified education and image competition requirements. Awarded for superior photographic skills—demonstrated through the PPA International Photographic Competition, advanced education and service to the industry.
A. Awarded for service as an orator, author or mentor. This degree shows that you have demonstrated talent beyond the creation of images and dedicated your time to move the industry forward and encourage education. Dave earned this degree by teaching other professional photographers in schools across the country and private classes held in the studio.
A. Simply call the studio to set up a time and date. We become very busy certain times of the year, so make sure you schedule early enough to allow time for us to complete your order by the time you need it. From the time of your session until you have your finished order is typically five to seven weeks.
A. Sessions are reserved by cash, check, Paypal or credit card (Visa & Mastercard). The session fee is non-refundable if not canceled three business days before the session without extenuating circumstances. Due to the custom nature of our business, orders are paid in full at the time the order is placed and may not be canceled.
A. We will schedule a time for you to return and view your images at your session. This appointment is about a week from the time you are photographed. We also post your image files on a password protected online gallery for you to view and share with anyone that you wish to give the login information to. At the image view session we will schedule a time for you to return and place your order. Again, this is done in approximately one week. We will deliver your finished images three to four weeks from the time you place your order.
A. Files that images are not ordered from are deleted after your order consultation. All other files are archived for approximately one year from the time you order. If you would like to retain your master image files we will provide a back-up disk that you may store. This disk is intended as a personal archive of our files. You will not be able to access these files, but will have them in case your original images are lost, damaged or you need additional copies. There is a $30.00 fee for creating a personal archive disk.
A. Technology is, seemingly, making it easy to create and copy images. The problem boils down to "You get what you pay for". You can always find cheap, but is the lowest price what you really want to invest in for generations to come. Our prints are on quality photographic paper, color correct, and coated with a protective finish. You don't get that at WalMart or your local quick copy center. But I just want them for facebook and my phone and instagram... digital versions of the images you order are available, but remember that every electronic device will eventually fail. CDs and DVDs have a lifespan of only about fifteen years, if stored properly, before they start to degrade and become useless. File types change. Will the software of the future be able to read to disk and the files you have today? How are your grandchildren going to shore your images with their children?
A. There is not an easy answer to this one. Trends come and go, but some styles stand the test of time better than others. A portrait is not about the latest fashion, it is about you. Plain, simple, classic work best but everyone has their own style and own idea of what to wear. Our suggestion is bring more than you need. Make sure you have accessories for all your outfits. Shoes, jewelry, accessories and proper undergarments should all be considered when choosing what to bring.
A. We never allow anything but the best quality portraits to leave our studio. All of our images are retouched, color correct, and archival.
A. We usually start with your most formal outfits so your hair and makeup are best. We like to work a few different styles into every session so bring what you need to change your style.
